On May 29, 2026, students, athletes, coaches, mental health professionals, and community members came together for Connecting in Community: Move Your Body, Calm Your Mind , a community event focused on the power of movement,
mindfulness, sport, and play to support mental well-being.

Held in recognition of Mental Health Awareness Month, the event featured an afternoon of soccer, yoga, meditation, mindfulness activities, and a coaches panel designed to encourage Californians of all ages to care for their mental health, move their bodies, and build stronger connections with their communities.

The event was hosted by statewide initiatives California Love, California Strong
and Move Your Body, Calm Your Mind, which promote social connection,
self-care, belonging, and everyday practices that can help reduce stress and
support emotional well-being.

This AAPI Heritage Month, celebrate the connection between food, family, and community. 🌱

After gatherings and shared meals, small actions can help reduce waste and support a healthier environment.

Here are a few simple ways to reduce waste at gatherings:

🍱 Save leftovers to eat later
🌸 Put flowers, fruit peels, veggie scraps, coffee grounds, and tea leaves in your green bin (check local requirements) or garden
🌱 Cook with all parts of an ingredient (e.g., use bones to make broth)
♻️ Separate bottles and cans for CRV redemption and get cash back

Reducing waste and recycling at home can help keep valuable materials out of landfills and support cleaner, healthier communities.
