Speaking to Sactown Sports 1140, Simmons’ grandfather revealed that Ben is back to shooting threes in live play at Kings camp, with the confidence and hunger that once made him a star.

“His hunger for the game is back… He comes to camp, he’s shooting threes in live play, doesn’t care whether they make or miss… That swagger, that confidence that he once had, is back.”

The talent was never the question. Now, the comeback begins.

The Kings reportedly had a chance to pair Trae Young with DeMar DeRozan and Domantas Sabonis.

James Ham revealed on an episode of Locked On Kings that Sacramento was once offered Young in a deal that would have sent Zach LaVine to Atlanta.

“The Kings, of course, had been offered Trae Young at one point in exchange for Zach LaVine. LaVine to Atlanta and Trae Young to the Sacramento Kings. The Kings said no to that deal from what I know, very specifically according to a source of mine.”

Ham added that Sacramento wasn’t prepared to offer Young an extension, which played a major role in the decision. At the time, the Kings had their reasons for passing on the deal.

Fast forward to today, and the paths have taken a fascinating turn. Young is now in Washington, while LaVine remains in Sacramento.

One decision. Two very different timelines.
