Letters from Utopia

Letters from Utopia Broadcasting from the purgatory of ideas… revolutionary communication and activity. Simply put, our goal is to design the future in which our children will play…

Letters will be devoted to playing with messages, salvaged from the purgatory of ideas, to stimulating free, active, creative, fun, peaceful, etc. Letters will be devoted to stimulating cooperation, comradery, and new levels of consciousness through playful/experimental modes of communication. It was Einstein who once wrote that “play is the highest form of research”, and we agree, but our goal is

not pure science, pure understanding, or pure discovery (these are simply useful concepts). The goal of our playful revolution is to take part in an active redesign of modernity that is already, very much, and currently underway.

Scientists can now analyze the personal data on millions of people without their knowledge, and some want to bring ethical guidelines to such studies.

"...Facebook has been heavily criticized for its experiments, with 84 percent of surveyed users saying they had lost trust in Facebook, and 66 percent claiming they considered deleting their Facebook account because of it. Though it’s too soon to say what effect this all could have on people’s willingness to continue using Facebook, this shows that a company’s reputation is something you might not want to experiment with..."

In the era of big data and analytics, the conventional wisdom seems to be that businesses should try lots of different things, test the results and continuously optimize to develop new innovations and better customer experiences. But some companies may be taking this advice a little too far.
