From Sac

From Sac We are a literary magazine that publishes fiction and non-fiction by writers from the Sacramento Val I didn’t always call it home. Never.

Tess says: "Sacramento has been the place I have lived since I was 18. I thought one day I would move on to a bigger, better place, but the longer I stayed the more Sacramento grew on me. This place is full of beauty, a beauty that goes unnoticed. There are words and stories here that go unheard too. In From Sac, readers will see and read Sacramento’s beauty." Elison says: "Having lived in Sacrame

nto for over 30 years, I've come to realize that Sacramento is the ugly stepchild of California: we're not L.A., we're not San Diego, we're not San Francisco, and the best thing about us is we are in the middle of the Bay and Tahoe. There's much more to Sac than that, however, including the vibrant writing community that live, breathe, and write in the Sacramento Valley. With From Sac, we're hoping to showcase that talent." Jon says: "Sacramento is nothing more than a big town that has yet to accept the fact that it is not a huge metropolis. It will never be L.A., or New York, or even San Francisco. And there is nothing wrong with that. At From Sac, we want to focus on the small, the overlooked, the real. The valley is filled with brilliant writers and artists, and we want to expose that brilliance here."

Sure does feel a bit alien like around the city as of late. The lack of human presence out on the streets is very strange. Feels like a Ray Bradbury novel.

“When my father looked to see my reaction, I first looked to Peter to see his. Peter always behaved correctly. At the moment his face had gone pale. He was obviously sick over it. I turned back to my father and mimicked the same expression. I believed it was the response he expected. The photograph was unsettling, and yet, the truth was that it didn’t really disturb me.”

Wow . . . it's been a while! Sorry for all the not-posting. But we have good news! The 2018 issue is now available, so go get yourself a copy today! Or tomorrow, that's fine, too. We can wait:

The sixth volume of FROM SAC. This issue addresses the theme of Voices. Story is so much more than language experienced through text: it is the sensory capsule of the human condition. But in the silence of writing, that condition is minimized to only the page. We all have a story to tell, and no ...
