We are devastated to have just learned about the tragic, premature passing of Tyler Gearhart, to many known as Travis Bickle, or Lasher of Christ.
We had the privilege to release Tyler’s band Be***al Putrefaction in 2021. It was a defining Sentient Ruin release that hundreds of you showed a lot of love for, and I recall him being very proud and humbled by the release’s success and by the outpour of enthusiasm around it that all of you showed for it. He was a joy and pleasure to work with. Funny, empathic, talented, and passionate, and it showed thereafter through all the many other bands he launched afterwards, like Jehovah Lashing, Shotgun C**k, Spastic Tumor, Morgue Tar, Night War, etc.
We all knew Tyler through his undying love for D-beat, gore, horror movies and other underground oddities. He displayed a unique passion for the things he loved and few people can be defined as committed and integral to the underground as he was. He genuinely loved everything he was passionate about in our scene, and it showed through his music, bands, drumming, art and collecting, none of which was ever done for gimmick or fashionable life phases, but for genuine and undying love for the game. Tyler would have devoted the rest of his life to crust, gore, horror and underground art and subculture for the rest of his life, and we all know he would have.
Our deepest and most sincere condolences go out to Tyler’s family, his girlfriend, his closest friends, bandmates and collaborators. You will be missed Tyler, the world just got a little bit colder without you.
Wearing my Sentient Ruin Be***al Putrefaction long sleeve will take on a whole new meaning for me from now on. Blast Be***al Putrefaction or any other of Tyler’s bands today, and have a toast to him, I know I will. RIP King, we will miss you💔👑🥀. -M.
