VERY active pattern coming up with several chances of Rain & snow over the next week to week and a half.

1) Thursday morning snow --> rain scenario with very light accumulation. Rain ends in the early afternoon.

2) Overnight Saturday into Sunday snow --> Rain scenario with very light accumulation. Rain ends late morning/early afternoon Sunday.

3) Tuesday - Friday next week. Snow chances throughout the week. Too far out to be specific. Cold temps and overall pattern look conducive for snow (suppression to our south is still a possibility)

Latest update from the HORRIBLE GFS model.... lets see who verifies!

For the first time in a while we are looking at several snow chances over the next 7 days.

1) Later this evening into the overnight there is a chance for some snow showers and perhaps some light snow especially in Eastern Suffolk County. Anyone planning on traveling after sundown, be cautious.

2) Monday next week looks interesting. Again, nothing crazy, no blizzards or anything like that. The forecast models have been showing an increasing chance of a 1 - 3" or 2 - 4" type event for the area. They have been EXTREMELY inconsistent lately. The weather pattern we are in is very volatile and even the smallest change in the upper-level dynamics is having large impacts on the resulting weather. More to come.

3) The last "storm" is 7 - 8 days away, so once again this is for information purposes only and is NOT a forecast. If you have plans for the weekend of the 18th - 19th, just keep an eye on things.

Say it ain't SNOW! The storm that wasn't will be the case this weekend. The ingredients were there and this setup had good potential however things just did not line up to give us the big snowstorm we had mentioned several days ago. Overall, overnight Friday into Saturday morning will feature snow showers. There will be enough moisture around that some of these squalls could produce whiteout conditions for a brief time. Dusting to an inch or so in spots will be about it.

I'm not going to get into too much detail as we are still 140+ hrs away but the models are hinting at the possibility of a major storm for next weekend...... Lot of ingredients have to come together at the right time but it is something to watch for sure!

12/31/2024

What we know..... COLD COLD COLD is coming for the first week in January. This also gives us several snow chances along the way. The first shot will be around 1/7

Will keep you posted!!

12/20/2024

Although the trend over the past 12 hrs has been for the storm to be a bit closer to the coast, I am still not buying any accumulations over 1 - 2" (AT BEST). I still think a dusting to 1" is most likely scenario. At the very least the roads are going to be a disaster overnight and into tomorrow morning. If you don't have to travel tomorrow morning, then do yourself and others a favor and stay home!
