Thank you, Fire Chief Raines!!
The Saginaw Fire Department would like to congratulate our Fire Chief, Thomas Raines on his retirement.
For the last 30 years few have given their blood, sweat, and tears the way Fire Chief Raines has. Always a person who had the vision to make the city of Saginaw a better, safer place and truly believed the fire department was nothing less than exceptional and excellent in their service.
He was always there to lend an ear and always willing to offer compassion when problems happened in life or on the job. He cared deeply about the community he served, but even more so in the people he worked along side of.
He always believed we were the best fire department in the world and his best skill was making others believe in that same value.
His leadership, work ethic, dedication, and determination will live on forever at SFD and in the hearts of anyone who ever had the chance to speak with him.
Chief, we promise to take care of SFD and everything you’ve done to build it into what it’s become. You always tell people, having this career was like winning the lottery. Now is the time for you to cash in on your jackpot and spend all your time with friends and family celebrating your time with city doing the GREATEST JOB ON THE FACE OF THE EARTH!
“Every man's heart one-day beats its final beat, his lungs breathe their final breath. And if what that man did in his life, makes the blood pulse through the body of others, and makes them believe deeper in something larger than life, then his essence, his spirit, will be immortalized by the storytellers, by the loyalty, by the memory, of those who honor him and make whatever the man did live forever.”
