Have you seen the monkeys at Silver Springs State Park? 🐒We’ve missed them the last two times we went, but thankfully our friend that_floridaboy snagged some pics for us! Early morning seems to be the best time to catch them 🌞 The glass bottom boat tours are a Florida tradition and actually the oldest tourist attraction in the state of Florida. They’ve operating in some form here since 1878 🤯 They were the most popular tourist attraction in the state before theme parks came along. There’s boardwalks for walking around and you might even recognize some scenes from the original Tarzan movies 🎥 While swimming hasn’t been allowed for almost a decade, rumor has it that could be changing soon 👙🩱🩲🩳

In July 2019, 1.5 million dollars in appropriations was awarded to the project. On May 20th, Zalak penned a letter to the state Department of Environmental Protection to keep the process going.

Ichetucknee Springs is one of the best places to experience a slice of “Old Florida” and one of the few rivers in Florida that allows tubing. While the tube run has been cut in half since the pandemic it’s still 1-2 hours and can be done over and over. There are also kayak, canoe and iSUP rentals, all at the General Store via the South Entrance. The North Entrance is where you can swim at the spring head, dive the Blue Hole and do some hiking 🥾🤿🛶

While there’s no camping at the park, there’s plenty nearby. Our favorite was Ichetucknee Springs Campground near the North Entrance. They also have rentals & discounts on them for campers 🍩
