For this month's Captain B's Surf Fishing Charters Surf Fishing Meet-Up at Mavericks Hangar Bar & Grill I was able to get my dad to join me on the sand.

The surf was extremely weedy, but there were a few patches of clean water mixed in, so we spent the day chasing those spots—and it paid off. Between the two of us, we landed several whiting, and I was able to add a pompano and a bluefish to the mix.

It was definitely a grind to get on the fish, but that's what makes the catches that much more rewarding. The fish were chewing on FishGum, either by itself or tipped with fleas.

With the tough conditions, not many fish were turned in, so my catches were enough to place in two different categories. 🏆🐟

Very seldom do I come across a fish I can’t identify. Well, here’s one of them.

While we were surf fishing in PCB, Brooks Reid grabbed this fish right out of the wash. After digging around and comparing photos, the best identification I could come up with is a Spotted Hake.

Not exactly a common catch from the beach, which made it a pretty cool surprise. Always fun when a fish comes along that sends you down a rabbit hole trying to figure out what it is! 🤙

🎣🌊 I headed up to the Panhandle with a few of the east coasters this weekend, and what a trip it was!

After some searching, we finally found some clean water that wasn't loaded with June grass, and once we did, we were able to get on the fish. 🐟🔥

A huge thank you to Brooks Reid for coming out and showing us a great time. We definitely appreciated the local knowledge and hospitality! It was also awesome getting the chance to meet Ryan McMahon while we were up there.

Great fishing, great people, and plenty of memories made. Looking forward to making another trip back up there! 🤙🌊🎣

Went down south yesterday to help out Reel Healin Outdoors and get some of the guys from The Fallen Outdoors on some fish.

We started at the designated spot, but the seaweed had other plans. We couldn’t even keep lines in the water without them getting covered up, so the call was made to head north until we found cleaner water and better conditions.

The bite stayed pretty slow, but we still managed to get on some fish — whiting, pompano, and mojarras made an appearance.

No crazy numbers, but days like this are always worth it. Getting veterans out on the beach, relaxing, sharing some laughs, and putting a few fish on the sand is what it’s all about.

Already looking forward to the next one and hopefully some better conditions so we can get these veterans on even more fish! 🇺🇸🎣

Went out fishing a little south of Sebastian Inlet this weekend for the Mavericks Hangar Bar & Grill Surf Fishing Tournament & Meetup, and the bite was nonstop all day!

There were tons of pompano hanging right in that 10–11 inch range. I stopped counting after 18 shorts. I went through an entire pack of blaze orange FishGum, and the Surfari rigs from Rich Vidulich absolutely did the work.

I ended up walking away with a pompano pillow (which my wife immediately claimed 😂) and a gift card to Maverick thanks to Captain B's Surf Fishing Charters and the spot that I weighed in.

Overall, an awesome weekend full of good fishing and good people. Already looking forward to the next one!
