On this day in 1975, the Nazareth single “Love Hurts” debuted on the US Billboard Hot 100 at #95 (November 22)

“Love Hurts” was written by Boudleaux Bryant, and first recorded by the Everly Brothers in 1960, but probably the best known version is this one from Nazareth.

The Nazareth power ballad is the only rendition of "Love Hurts" to become a hit single in the United States, reaching #8 on the Billboard Hot 100 in early 1976, and peaking at #1 in Canada, the Netherlands, Belgium, South Africa and Norway, #3 in Argentina, #4 in New Zealand, #6 in Sweden, and #8 in Australia.

The Nazareth single was so successful in Norway that it charted for 61 weeks on the Norwegian charts, including 14 weeks at #1, making it the top single of all time in that country.
