Residents turn ‘calamity’ into free school lunches

St. James residents are raising funds to support the R-1 school district’s community account for unpaid lunch debt. The fundraiser is being managed by the St. James United Methodist Church. In order to raise money, the St. James United Methodist Church is holding a raffle and silent auction for a decorative handmade wishing well lawn ornament, and cedar doghouse. The drawings for the raffle and silent auction will be held at the St. James Grape and Fall Festival. Both items were crafted and donated by a local resident who wished to remain anonymous.

Rapp dismissed as defendant from St. James R-1 lawsuit, trial date set

A former St. James R-1 Board of Education member was recently dismissed as a defendant in a lawsuit filed against him and the school district by another local resident who alleged discrimination.

Jon Rapp, former board of education president, was dismissed on Aug. 5 as a defendant in a lawsuit leveled against him and the school district by Donna Olson, a local resident who is suing over claims that they falsely accused her of harassment. While Rapp has been dismissed as a defendant and is no longer party to the lawsuit, it is still moving forward with the St. James R-1 School District as the sole defendant.
