The University of Illinois State Farm Center. First opened in 1963 and originally known as the Assembly Hall. My Grandfather was the yard foreman for this construction project for Felmley-Dickerson Construction of Champaign, Illinois. The building roof is entirely concrete and woven wire. It’s an amazing facility.

The Midwest has been in a serious drought most of the summer. The area lakes and streams are lower than I have ever seen them. This portion of Homer Lake in Champaign County is nearly dry. The crops in the area were still outstanding despite the dry conditions. We need some rain to refresh things.

Nearly two years ago my wife Brooke was diagnosed with an aggressive form of breast cancer. She has been through chemotherapy, radiation, infusions, multiple surgeries, MRIs, etc. Good news is she recently was given a no recurrence of the cancer. We are eternally grateful to the wonderful care team and countless family and friends who sent prayers, etc. Thank you sincerely it means more than I can adequately describe.

There was several microclimates going on here at the same time. It was rainy, cloudy, sunny, warm, cold all within just a few steps. Then of course there was a gorgeous rainbow. Luckily I had my Nikon 14-24mm on and was able to capture the entire scene.
