🇺🇸Heroes Among Us – Honoring a Veteran a Day
Today, Sunflower Marketing & Social Media proudly honors Colonel (Ret.) Dan O’Grady, United States Army — a true American hero, a devoted husband and father, and a lifelong friend.
Dan received his commission in May 1990 through the University of Miami Army ROTC Program and began his career as an Air Defense Artillery Officer in February 1991. Over the course of his 29 years of service, Dan commanded at the Battery, Battalion, and Brigade levels, deployed seven times, and served a year unaccompanied in Korea. His leadership, courage, and commitment to his Soldiers and his country are nothing short of extraordinary. 🇺🇸
I’ve had the privilege of knowing Dan since childhood, and what an incredible honor it is to call him my friend. Through every chapter of life, he has remained humble, steadfast, and faithful — a man who truly embodies strength, loyalty, and compassion.
Dan also reminds us of something deeply important — the sacrifice and service of military spouses.
“Military spouses don’t receive the recognition they’ve earned. They become single parents overnight, stepping into every role imaginable while not knowing if their loved one will return home.”
As someone who had the honor of being a military spouse and an Army wife, I couldn’t agree more. It was one of the greatest honors of my life — to stand beside and support those who serve.
Thank you, Dan O’Grady, for your service, your leadership, and your heart. And thank you, Kathy, for your love, strength, and the sacrifices you made along the way. Together, you both represent what it means to serve with courage, faith, and devotion.
