On this 12th of August, all we can see in today’s forecast is “daylight”… sort of.
This afternoon will be dry, with mostly to partly cloudy skies and highs in the mid-80s. A few brief showers are possible east of I-35.

Tomorrow and through the rest of the week, plenty of sunshine is in the forecast — the kind that might just make you feel “golden.”

Highs in the mid 90s, with heat idea values in the triple digits.

A heat advisory will go into effect starting at 1 p.m. this afternoon and last until 8 p.m.

Thunderstorms are expected to begin within the hour. Frequent lightning and wind gusts up to 40-50 mph is possible. This will continue until midday.

UPDATED FORECAST 08/06/25 9:00 AM

This morning, a line of thunderstorms has been moving through the I-90 and I-80 corridors. So far, the storms have remained sub-severe, and that trend is likely to continue as they track into northwest Missouri and northeast Kansas. However, severe thunderstorms are still possible, with small hail and gusty, damaging winds.

The western portion of this line is expected to move into St. Joseph by lunchtime, while the eastern portion will track toward north-central Missouri. Afternoon highs are still expected to reach the upper 80s, though cooler temperatures are possible depending on morning showers and cloud cover.

Today’s QuickCastCloudy and dry for the rest of the morning and afternoon. There is a 40% chance for showers and thunderstorms later this evening. Highs will be in mid 80s today.

Tomorrow, slight chance for showers in AM. Mostly cloudy for the rest of the day. Much needed cool down starting tomorrow!
