Good afternoon! Hope you all are starting 2024 happy & healthy!
As we mentioned before Christmas, we have a few big changes happening over here! As some of you may have heard, Kansas Premium Meats is now under NEW OWNERSHIP!! Please allow me to introduce myself!
My name is Mike Zyrowski and I am honored to have the opportunity to continue to provide the community with the highest quality meats! I previously owned Flint Hills Custom Meats in Onaga, KS for the last 3 years, so I am very familiar with all things beef related. I know quality when I see it, and I won't offer you all anything less than the best!
Along with beef, we are looking forward to being able to offer chicken, pork, elk, lamb, and bison as well! We are also currently in contact with several vendors from around the state to bring you all a variety of new products (seasonings, rubs, sauces, jams, relishes, etc.) - that will all be local to Kansas! In addition to bringing in the above mentioned products, we are also actively working on bringing in some pre-prepared frozen meals, as well as a few grab and go sandwiches - and a few other things we've got up our sleeves!
After we get all of these items in order, our next step is to bring in a commercial smoker so we are able to make various in-house smoked products; such as snack sticks, summer sausage, bratwursts, and kielbasas - along with curing and smoking hams and bacon!
Yes, we have big plans to bring in quite a few new products, but we are still planning to carry all of the same products that you know and love! We've still got the Village Maker pies, RemeBees honey & freeze dried candy, Hometown Bakery granola and jams, several Yoder products, and SO much more!!
Please be patient with us as we make these transitions and get everything situated. If you have stopped by recently and have been disappointed by the lack of selection, please feel free to stop by again in the near future! If there is every anything that you are looking for or that you would like to see us carry, please let us know! I am more than happy to look into anything you'd like to see! Please also feel free to reach out with any questions you may have!
I am really looking forward to meeting each and every one of you and I thank you all for your continued support and business!

UK Variant identified in Kansas

TOPEKA – A CDC Emerging Variant, which has been found in 33 U.S. states, was identified in Kansas this afternoon. A Kansas resident in Ellis County was found to have the United Kingdom, or UK, variant known as B.1.1.7. A case investigation is being conducted to determine how the person became infected with this particular variant of the SARS-CoV-2 virus, as well as if others may have been exposed. No further details are being released concerning the patient, including demographics.

The variant was determined through the whole genome sequencing (WGS) conducted through the laboratories at the Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE).

“This finding does not change our public health recommendations. We continue to encourage people to take the appropriate precautions: follow isolation and quarantine recommendations, practice physical distancing, wearing masks, good hygiene, staying home if ill and getting the vaccine if you are able to, once the supply is sufficient,” Dr. Norman, KDHE Secretary, said.

This variant was first reported in the U.S. at the end of December 2020. Evidence from the UK indicates that this variant spreads much more quickly through the population and, given that fact, may rapidly increase the number of hospitalizations and deaths. More studies are needed to confirm this finding.
