Happy Veterans Day! Thought it was fitting to share this again.

A gentleman and story I will remember for the rest of my life.

A Vietnam War Vet came into our store in 2019. I could tell right away he had a deep fascination with bettas the way he would pick up their jar and observe them. We got to chatting about to how he got into bettas.

He was serving for our country during the Vietnam War. He mentioned how rough it was in the jungle with all the blood, destruction and bullets flying right by his head. During all the fighting and chaos as he laid for cover in the rice patties, he would look down by his feet and see bettas swimming along side his boots.

Even during one of the most gruesome wars in history, he took a little moment to enjoy the fish. Thank you for your service Cesar and for sharing your story with me.

This reminds me of how important a healthy “distraction” like an aquarium is. This is one of the main reasons I decided to return to this industry and hobby after 2 years hiatus. The world we live in has only gotten crazier and we have only become more divided as humans. One thing that can bring us together is wonderful hobbies such as this fish hobby we love so much.

We are thankful for all who have served and are currently serving.

How cool are these! We have Green Rili Shrimp breeding in our fishroom. Not quite letting these go yet as they are one of the newest neocaridina colors. Hoping to be able to provide some home bred Green Rili shortly.

Just had to share a shipping story from this week.

We officially closed our retail store front in 2023. Back then, I used to ship out every Saturday with USPS. It used to be one of my favorite shipping methods to give customers a cheap and reliable shipping method because they almost always ended up arriving Monday.

This past Saturday, 2 years later almost to the dot I shipped out multiple packages. A few packages going to states far from us like Georgia, Arizona and Florida were delivered Monday morning and customers were happy. However, more than half of them had no updates on the tracking info. Needless to say, I was a bit stressed not only financially for the potential set back if they were all DOAs but also just the stress of the loss of such high quality fish.

To my surprise, all the packages that were shipped Saturday and arrived today (Wednesday) were 100% alive. ZERO DOAs. That’s nearly 5 full days! The crazy thing is 3 of the packages were just going to the next state over (Wisconsin).

Myself and my customers are all very happy with the way the fish were packaged! Cheers.

Some insanely nice guppies headed out to Wausau, Wisconsin. You can see the Dumbo Platinum Koi guppies in their “stressed” out colors still looking wonderful. The second trio is Dumbo Whites. We just released these to the public. Tons of trios available this week that won’t last long.

Found this beauty on my farm today. This fella was crawling into the chicken section of the barn. I quickly saved it because you all know how chickens can be. It was relocated to another portion of my land that is perfect salamander habitat.
