Southeast Asia has some of the most incredible biodiversity in the world. It’s been a longtime goal of mine to document and collect fish throughout these rainforests as well as photograph the diversity of plant life. Incredible photo showing many Osphronemidae from SE Asia (although many species aren’t shown).

Another favorite came in! I’ve always been drawn to killifish ever since I saw them in local fishrooms or at the local aquarium shows growing up.

We received 4 types of killies in this week but we will start with showing off these absolutely wonderful Aphyosemion Australe “Golds”. This family of killies come from South Western African from multiple countries including Congo, Cameroon, Gabon and a few other areas they reside in. This is NOT an annual species of killifish which make them so desirable for your tanks! In the wild they reside in small slow moving streams and swamps and feast on insects and aquatic invertebrate. In the hobby, they are not picky and will munch on bloodworms, flake and even a sinking pellet they can all share as seen in the video below.

Please message us to purchase a pair. We will be meeting interested customers at a specific location 1-2 times this weekend.

Pelvicachromis taeniatus is a stunning dwarf cichlid that originates from West Africa specifically Nigeria, Cameroon and Liberia. Their color varies based on location. The absolutely striking form we got in last week is pelvicachromis taeniatus Nigerian Red also known as the Nigerian Red Kribensis. They come from slow moving streams in which they forage the bottom for aquatic invertebrate, insects and other forms of protein they can eat. They are omnivores so they will sift through sand and filter any bits of vegetation they might want in their diet. In the hobby, we primarily feed them frozen bloodworms, flake and smaller sinking pellets.

These guys are ready to breed today! Something quite unique about them are the females have just as nice colors as the males when usually females in the fish world are a bit more plain. The females entice, dance and display for the males just as much as the males do for females. This is not typical in the fish world. A pair of these would make an incredible display in your living room show rank, fishroom or an upcoming aquarium show!

Dwarf Cichlids are some of the most amusing and beautiful fish to have in the hobby! They can fit in most hobbyists aquariums quite easily unlike some of the larger more aggressive cichlids. This is a show piece fish constantly on display! We had 5 types dwarf cichlids that came in this week. We will start with by posting a favorite and one of our quickest sellers in the past.

The fish in the video below are called Apistogramma Macmasteri ‘Rotschulter’. They are already pairing off and showing signs that they are nearly ready to breed. Shoot us a PM for a pair.

Hey folks,

Not quite back out of retirement as some were thinking. Last year was rough on me but I did import in some goodies for a local swap coming up. Here is my favorite invert that came in.

Sulawesi shrimp are from Sulawesi, Indonesia and are critically endangered in the wild. They are also very rare in the hobby even as captive bred specimen. Their striking colors and unique patterns make them look like a saltwater species of shrimp! Unlike most other shrimp in the hobby that prefer cold soft water, these guys prefer higher pH and warmer water. The specific Sulawesi shrimp in the video that came in this week are captive bred Cardinal Shrimp.

They are always in demand and always hold value. I put these towards the top of the list when it comes to breeding for profit.

We will set up meeting times where I’ll take prepayment and meet at a specific location. PM us for more info.

What’s up aquarists?

I greatly miss Tamed Waters customers, followers and fans. I never thought I’d have to close down such a successful and iconic store but the previous landlords were terrible. Unfortunately I am currently still in an unfair and unjust legal battle with these folks.

I just wanted to reach out to the Tamed Waters customer base and say you are all dearly missed. Hoping to open a bigger and better Tamed Waters again one day. For now I am a full time hobbyist again supporting other local fish stores and hobbyists. Hope to see you all soon.

Help me clear the last few tanks. I have to be out in 24 hours.

Took home 4x 75 gallon tanks and I’m thoroughly enjoying being just a hobbyist again! I set these drilled tanks up like normal fish tanks with sponge filters. If you want to use drilled tanks like a normal aquarium you just have the stand pipe go above the water level or put a plug in the bulkhead.

Come help me clear these out today and tomorrow. Great prices! $1 per gallon on bigger tanks (I paid far more). Let’s do buy one at $1 per gallon get one free on 20 gallons tanks! Message us if interested!

As I was mindlessly breaking down racks and tanks today, I took a moment to enjoy these discus. Love the shape, health and overall quality.

If anyone wants some high quality discus, I will be available by appointment to make sales for fish, racks and tanks. Plenty of drilled 10s, 20s, 40s, and 75s left. Private message if interested.

Who is down to celebrate the last 6 years of Tamed Waters with me?

It’s short notice but I’m hoping most of you will consider making it out for a drink with me! Being a nurse and store owner, I often did not have the time to meet up with customers outside of the shop.

Let’s change that! It will be awesome to get together outside of the shop while supporting another small business.

When: Tomorrow September 22nd 6pm-8pm
Where: Bent Brewstillery in Roseville, MN.
Available: They have craft beer, craft mixed drinks, THC seltzers, and plenty of non alcoholic drinks(kombucha, local soda, nitro coffee, etc)
Who: YOU! I am hoping to see many familiar faces I have met over the years including the many from Wisconsin, Iowa, Dakotas etc.

See you all tomorrow!
