Mayor Melvin Carter this week detailed what he wants to see in a city ordinance to restrict guns in Saint Paul.

State law currently preempts local regulation of fi****ms, which is a statute that would need to be repealed before a city ordinance could take effect.

Reflecting on this last week with a heavy heart and with hope for the full recovery of the survivors of the shooting at the Church of the Annunciation.

In an update today, the City of Minneapolis now says 18 children were injured in Wednesday's attack, bringing the total number of injured victims to 21. Eight-year-old Fletcher Merkel and 10-year-old Harper Moyski were killed.

In the hours after the shooting, Mayor Frey said, "This needs to be about wrapping our arms around these families with every bit of love we can possible show."

We've been pressing the Minnesota Department of Human Services for answers about the decision to shut down the Housing Stabilization Services program due to credible allegations of fraud.

This week we learned the 77 providers linked to fraud investigations received a total of more than $88 million through the program.

St. Paul Public Schools is working to fill more than 100 teacher positions with less than two weeks to go before the new school year starts.

There’s an effort to create a lasting tribute to the late Minnesota House Speaker Emerita Melissa Hortman at the Minnesota State Capitol Complex.

A petition has been started suggesting the State Office Building, which is under renovation, be renamed the Hortman State Office Building.
