You mean to tell us you STILL haven’t watched Episode 3: Florence?

Okay, we’ll give you one more reason.

Florence and Langston Hughes take a little trip back to 1930s Harlem, where a young Florence tells us a story about coming face-to-face with her older self and gets to experience a piece of history firsthand.

And because this is Beret Tales, of course Langston has to make a stop at A’Lelia Walker’s legendary Dark Tower to perform one of his legendary pieces, 'Song'.

History is a lot more fun when you get to step inside of it.

We're excited to share that our Founder & CEO, Crystal Stein, recently had the opportunity to sit down with Biig Miic on For the Culture (KRSM 98.9 FM) for a conversation about the inspiration behind Beret Publishing and our mission to make history, music, and literacy more accessible for children.

The interview is now featured on the Little Moments Count Radio Podcast, a statewide initiative dedicated to supporting healthy early childhood development through trusted resources and meaningful conversations.

During the interview, Crystal shares the story behind Beret Publishing, the importance of representation in children's literature, and how music, storytelling, and accessibility can help children connect with history in new and meaningful ways.

Florence Price never stopped writing music, and she went on to become the first Black woman to have a symphony performed by a major American orchestra.

You never know where your dreams will lead.

As influential voices of the Harlem Renaissance, they shared a passion for using their gifts to inspire others. Florence Price even set several of Langston Hughes' poems to music, creating a lasting connection between two extraordinary artists.

That's why we were so excited to welcome Langston as Florence's special guest in Episode 3 of Beret Tales.

What started as an idea to help children discover history through storytelling has now been recognized with three Telly Awards.

Thank you to everyone who has supported Beret Tales and believed in the power of representation, education, and imagination.

Earlier this week, Beret Publishing became a 3x Telly Award-winning organization for our online series, Beret Tales: Animated Interviews with History’s Greats. And honestly, we're still sitting with the weight of what that means.

What started as an idea around a kitchen table has now been recognized nationally in the categories of Social Impact, Education & Discovery, and Animation.

There were moments while building Beret where the vision felt almost too big to explain:

- A multimedia publishing house.
- Books with music and Braille.
- Animated interviews with overlooked historical voices.
- Educational storytelling designed to help children feel seen.
- Bringing musical greats and their compositions back to life.

And yet… here we are.

To every person who supported Beret Publishing, Beret Dreams Studio, and Beret Tales along the way, thank you. Truly.

This recognition belongs to everyone who believed meaningful stories for children could still matter in a loud world.
