Attention educators! If you haven’t already, please sign up by Nov 7 for United Through Reading’s Storytime with a Service Member! UTR.org/VeteransDay

You’ll receive a private link to a curated playlist of recordings featuring a variety of books read aloud by US service members. Elva Resa has two picture books on the playlist, Brenda Ehrmantraut's Night Catch and ¡Atrapa la estrella!, read in English and Spanish respectively, about a soldier and his son who play catch with the North Star during the dad’s deployment.

During Veterans Day week, share your selected video with students in your classroom to spark meaningful conversations.

***The first 1000 schools registered for Storytime with a Service Member will receive a special link in mid-November to a read-aloud featuring Elva Resa’s award-winning children’s book authors Teri Weber and Gabriella Aldeman.

In this prerecorded discussion, Teri will talk about being a C-17 pilot and instructor of pilots in the US Air Force. She’ll share interesting facts about planes and what Veterans Day means to her and her family (four generations of military service members). She’ll read aloud one of her Operation Aviation™ books, Moose on a Mission, about a C-17 cargo jet who works hard on big adventures and makes friends along the way. Fellow children’s book author and award-winning translator, Gaby, will talk about translating the Operation Aviation™ books in rhyme and will read aloud La misión de Alce in Spanish. Gaby is a two-time gold medal winner in the International Latino Book Awards for best children’s picture book translation, English to Spanish. The Operation Aviation™ series also recently medaled in the Moonbeam Children’s Book Awards for best picture book series.

Ten schools with the most classroom signups will receive a grand school library pack of 22 Elva Resa Publishing books, including Night Catch, ¡Atrapa la estrella, and the Operation Aviation™ series in English and Spanish.

Any public or private school teacher, school librarian, homeschooler, or community educator is eligible to participate in this meaningful United Through Reading initiative.
