You’ve just been told that you have high cholesterol and that you need to be on a cholesterol medication. However, has your doctor checked your Lipoprotein A and Apolipoprotein B levels? The 2026 ACC/AHA/Multisociety Dyslipidemia Guideline contains updated, evidence-based recommendations that replace those from 2018.

Lipoprotein A should be measured at least once in your lifetime. This is determined genetically, and it typically will not change despite what you do.

Apolipoprotein B measures the load of your bad cholesterol, LDL.

Both of these labs are not included in your standard lipid panel. Therefore, it is very important to get these checked out if your doctor is concerned for high cholesterol.

Keep in mind, here at My Healthy Family Direct Primary Care, we eliminate the middleman, which is insurance. When you are a member, you have access to Dr. Lor 24/7. She will be able to get you in same day or next business day, and there will be no more long waits. This means that you will be able to avoid urgent care visits and ER visits. Therefore, you are able to cut down on medical bills.

Happy Labor Day weekend! We will be closed today, September 4, 2026 until Monday, September 7, 2026. We will resume our normal office hours on Tuesday, September 8, 2026.

Come watch what happens after labs 🧪 are drawn. Here at My Healthy Family Direct Primary Care, Dr. Lor does everything, including blood draws. She collects tests like sugar, cholesterol, prostate, thyroid, electrolytes, Pap smear, strep throat. You name it. If it’s a common test, she will collect it.

Have you had blood work done lately? If not, a good time to do blood work is during your annual exam. Make sure you call your doctor to schedule one if it’s been over a year.
