The rich, golden hue of this honey, a thoughtful gift from my incredibly talented neighbor Sarka, hints at the liquid sunshine within. We eagerly anticipate our visits to her stand for those irresistible cinnamon rolls, a true favorite!
But this honey... this is extra special. As many of you know, my maiden name is Czech, and holding this jar, perhaps even harvested from the very land my ancestors walked, creates a profound connection to my roots. I grew up hearing stories of family members, and while many remained faces in photographs, that deep sense of belonging to my heritage has always been a part of me. I was always the one asking questions, piecing together the branches of our family tree.
Interestingly, this love of connection extends beyond family. While I used to be painfully shy around those outside my inner circle—a complete weirdo with those I knew and trusted—something shifted over time. Perhaps it was a gradual unfolding, or maybe a series of small steps, but now I find such joy in connecting with others and find it endlessly fascinating to learn their stories.
Thank you, dear Sarka, for this unexpected treasure! Who knew something as simple as honey could carry such a profound sense of personal history and connection? It truly made my day!

Bee college is a great way to learn all about beekeeping and of course our very special pollinators! We are excited to be speaking at bee college this summer!! 🐝💛
