STR Powerboats Announces Their All-New 4T, Ushering in a New Era of High-Performance Catamarans
FT. MYERS, Fla.—STR Powerboats, the high-performance marine manufacturer founded by world champion powerboat racer Shaun Torrente, has announced the launch of its first production model, the STR 4T.
The all-new true 40-foot pleasure catamaran boasts a 10’10” beam, and blends championship-proven racing technology with refined, modern design, and a heavy emphasis on safety—marking the company’s entry into the consumer performance market. The six-seater, with the option to accommodate eight, has an aerospace-inspired cockpit with wraparound windscreen, reminiscent of the exotic stylings of the supercars.
The STR 4T is the result of a collaboration between Torrente and Chief Creative Officer Wes Jones, a designer widely recognized for his work in the high-performance marine sector. Together, the duo set out to translate real-time offshore racing expertise into a production platform engineered for both extreme performance and everyday usability.
The launch follows STR Powerboats’ recent success at the Key West World Championships in November 2025, where the team’s 966 32 race catamaran captured a world championship title in the hyper-competitive Super Stock class in a field of 14 boats total. That race program served as the technical foundation for the STR 4T, which carries forward the engineering philosophy and performance pedigree developed on the world stage.
Powered by twin Mercury Racing 500R outboards, delivering a combined 1,000 horsepower, the STR 4T features an advanced stepped hull designed for efficiency, stability, and control at speeds exceeding 100 mph.The platform draws directly from Torrente’s decades of experience at the highest levels of powerboat racing, including his recent F1H20 World Championship win against international competition, paired with Jones’ forward-looking design approach.
