Services for beloved long-time minister and Bell Fire Marshal set for September 20. Please not when the family gave us the obituary, in their bereavement, it said Sept. 30. When they realized the typo, our newspaper was already sent to the post office and the weekly email sent to readers. We have corrected it where we can. Please share this post so that the locals who knew and loved Joe will have the accurate information. The service is Sept. 20.

Our Voice: Why hurry poorly written, over-reaching ordinance?

Village aldermen at their April 17 meeting tabled proposed ordinance 2025-13that repeals and combines ordinances concerning solicitation, itinerant vendors and mobile food trucks and adds regulations for Farmer’s Markets and so-called Mass Gatherings. However, it is back on the agenda for tonight’s aldermen meeting.

Aldermen will consider at their 6:30 p.m. May 1 meeting Ordinance 2025-13, which will regulate and tax special events on private property as well as taxing farmers markets.
