Strawberry River Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution, has been proud to serve our tri-county area for 46 years.

We participate annually with “Service to America“ projects which serve the goals of DAR in unique, local, and impactful ways.

The Service to America Committee evolved in 2016 from the Celebrate America! Committee which was created in 2013. Its purpose is to capture the magnitude of service hours that Daughters regularly contribute in our communities. Through our goal of providing meaningful service, this committee demonstrates the positive volunteer opportunities associated with DAR membership and enhances the public’s appreciation of the relevant, dynamic nature of DAR service work.

Municipalities across the state will be scrambling to implement new ordinances for accessory dwelling units (tiny homes) after the state passed Act 313 of 2025 which will go into effect Jan. 1, 2026.

The bill prohibits restrictions for property owners putting a tiny home on their property. According to the act, “‘Accessory dwelling unit’ means a self-contained and independently accessed living unit on the same parcel as a single-family dwelling of greater square footage that includes its own cooking, sleeping, and sanitation facilities and complies with or is otherwise exempt from any applicable regulatory requirements.”

During the Thursday, Oct. 16 Cherokee Village City Council meeting, council member Jason Lowe brought this to the attention of the council.
