Even a free PC can be too expensive. This gaming computer was given to my customer, but the GPU and SSD were failing, and the CPU was overheating. The amount of labor it would cost for a computer repair shop to fix would be more than the desktop is worth. So what should they do?

This $20,000 55” Drafting Table is really just a Gaming connected to a touchscreen. 10 years ago this GTX 960 GPU, 4th Gen Intel CPU and 16GB of DDR3 RAM was considered powerful hardware. I want to upgrade it, but what should I do with it after?

Cleaning and Upgrading My Steam Deck was a wild journey 😅 1TB NVMe and PTM7950 worked wonders for the speed and temps!

llano laptop coolers are what I personally use and are the only ones I’ve EVER recommended.
I’ve done in-depth testing in my previous videos proving they work, and my shop runs off these coolers every single day, so I’ll proudly advertise their product.

Boldly going where no Gooch has gone before. Stay tuned.

The cobbler’s children have no shoes. the technician’s PC is always a mess. I built my PC for 4K gaming, but as my career evolved, it became just a tool to make money. I stopped caring about cable management or dust filters. As long as it turned on and rendered the video, I didn’t care what it looked like inside. I’m not ashamed of this dust. My house is from the 1700’s with carpet from the 70’s. Let this be a reminder that you don’t need a pristine, aesthetic build to get work done. Don’t let the internet judge you for your setup. Judge your PC by how it performs, not how it looks.

See the full story on my YouTube! This used to be a CyberPower PC, but now it’s just a HYTE Y60 with a Raptor Lake ASROCK motherboard. A company gave it to our partner Trident Electronics Recycling, and I got my hands on it because I was curious what was wrong with it and why someone would toss it. All I know is it had an i9-13900K installed which Trident removed before giving it to me. I installed the 13700K I had in my test bench, and it booted right up! The BIOS wasn’t updated, so the only theory I have is the i9 was crashing due to the Raptor Lake instability issue, so they tossed it! Anyways, say hello to my new PC, as soon as DDR5 prices drop…

It’s always fun trying to play detective and figure out what the history was on the devices I get in. This ThinkPad display got burned by something. Whatever it was melted the backlight and caused the Eye of Sauron. Nothing a quick display assembly swap couldn’t fix!

Been a while since I gave a fleet update. All these combined cost me less than a base Toyota Camry and were broken in some way (and still are). You don’t need to be rich to have fun, you just need a lot of patience, zip ties, and a friend that stalks salvage yards Vroom vroom 🫡

Google has to be trolling me at this point. Why is AI so good at making creative things humans should be doing, but so bad at things a COMPUTER should be doing? This is the tech that companies are doing mass lay-offs for. We’re so cooked.

Tech used to be built to last. In 2011, upgradable storage, RAM, and even CPU’s were common on laptops. It wasn’t until Apple began glueing their batteries to the chassis in 2013 when manufacturers realized they could get away with taking features away. The Dell Vostro was one of those casualties.

Refurbishing hundreds of laptops and micro PC’s isn’t an easy task. Even finding a supplier that has that kind of quantity is proving to be difficult. Throw in the added responsibility of having to make content on a regular basis, and it becomes nearly impossible. But that’s not a word I understand, so here I am. Being able to get these used devices in the hands of people that need them is my number 1 goal. I can’t stand people that take these devices to “flip” instead of keeping the price affordable. But I encourage you to try refurbishing them yourself to SAVE MONEY!
