I’m disheartened by Time Warner Discovery Turner whateverthef**k not allowing a tribute to Jay Briscoe on their network, but that’s not why I’m poking my phone.

It was absolute class that WWE gave a tribute to him shortly after the accident and immediately scrapped a funeral segment on NXT. I watched that segment, and it was pretty much dog s**t after it got redone. You know what else it was? Still better than a fake funeral right after you announce that one of the best dudes in the business, who spent a decade apologizing for a s**tty tweet, has passed away. Fair play to TK for setting up multiple memorial shows and dedications too.

Man, 2023 already kinda sucks balls for wrestling. Vince is back in WWE, Kevin Nash is making mention of suck starting a firearm on the Kliq This podcast, and Jay Briscoe died today. Despite all the cool things that have happened, two thirds of this list have me hella sad and the third is obvious boomer rage.

Woke up to news about Wrestle Kingdom and what I’ve seen is about 50/50 for making sense.

Logical: Mercedes Mone debuts and has a bitch in her first match. That’s gonna put asses in seats, especially if she gets a title shot at Kairi’s strap. She gets to do what she loves in a new place for a large pile of cash. Love to see it.

Illogical: NJPW has a certified superstar in Will Ospreay at IWGP US champ who, like Sean Waltman, could pull a good match out of a slug. So they put him against Kenny fu**in Omega and had him drop the strap. The only ways that, in my rarely professional opinion, makes sense is that the belt is being used to repair the relationship with AEW or Will is being pushed for a bigger belt. Otherwise it’s a dog s**t move.

Honorable mention: Mercedes’ wig. Uh lol I’m not feelin it.

Every week it seems, someone asks who it should be that breaks Ric Flair’s 16 championship record. We hear names like Cena (16 but mostly done) or Randy Orton (14 but might be medically retired) almost every time it comes up.

My friends, much like the X Division Championship, I offer you Option C. With 13 officially recognized World Championships, years left in the tank, and the arguable rank of Best in the Company, is there really any other option? I think not.

I’ve got a take on the whole Derek Carr s**tuation.

DC got benched and decided to start vacation early. It’s kinda b***y, but every NFL fan and especially us Raiders fans know it’s the last thing he wants. But like coach said, he gets it. They need to see a couple weeks of the young fella to see if he’s the future or trade stock. Until I see they specifically s**t on DC, I’m not gonna buy into the hype.

A lot of the other wrestling pages I follow on my personal account we’re mad salty last night about the fact that Raw and Smackdown both did house shows last night while the Raw episode was a “Best of” show. Admittedly I understand the feeling, but at the same time we got to rewatch some of the best matches of the year. There were some I didn’t agree with, but I’m just one guy. Honestly I’m grateful I got to rewatch Cody vs Seth at HIAC without having to pull up Peacock. How did you feel about The Absolute Best of 2022?

Anybody else notice LA Knight full on channeling Ric Flair last night? Only thing he didn’t do is rip his clothes off and flop on the mat. Kind of a nice homage and subtle advertising at the same time. Plus the OSU Beavers smacked the Gators, so I’m a pretty happy old man right now!
