Vegetative State Vegetative State is a recording studio in Salem, Oregon working with our favorite musicians to produce high-quality recordings with a unique aesthetic.

Vegetative State is a small recording studio working with labels and independent artists to produce their music. Clients find it is a comfortable, relaxed environment equipped to record, mix, and /or master their music project at up to 24bit 192k using great new (RME, Chameleon Labs. Focusrite) as well as vintage analog (UREI, SSL) equipment and state of the art software. The mic locker includes S

oundeluxe, Oktava, Audix, AKG, Shure, MXL, EV, and Cascade Microphones. A compliment of instruments featuring vintage Gibson, Fender, Ibanez, and Martin guitars as well as vintage Martin and Epiphone mandolins are available, as are a Wurlitzer spinet piano, Roland and Nord Keyboards, and a host of virtual instruments. Various curio instruments are also available, such as vintage Yamaha and Wurlitzer student keyboards.

Our Story

Vegetative State is a small recording studio working primarily with independent artists to produce their music since 2005. Clients find it is a comfortable and relaxed environment, well equipped to record, mix, and/or master their music project. Capable of up to 24bit 192k using the highest quality new as well as vintage analog equipment and state of the art software. The recording gear features interface from RME with 4 very clean preamps, plus 21 outboard preamps from Chameleon Labs, AEA, Dogfish, Golden Age, and Focusrite. Analog outboard compression available via GSSL. A large collection of high quality VSTs are available. We proudly mix using Neumann monitors and Beyerdynamic headphones. The mic locker includes vintage and modern mics from Neumann, Soundelux, Beyerdynamic, Peluso, Rode, Oktava, AKG, Audix, Shure, ElectroVoice, and Cascade Microphones. A compliment of instruments featuring vintage Gibson, Fender, Ibanez, Ampeg and Martin guitars as well as vintage Martin and Epiphone mandolins are available, as are a Wurlitzer spinet piano, Sequential Circuits Prophet Rev2-16, Roland (D20, Xp10) and Nord (electro3-73) keyboards, a Hammond L-102 organ, and a host of virtual instruments. A Gretsch New American Classic maple kit is available with a wide complement of Zildjian, Sabian, and Dream cymbals. Various curio instruments are also available, such as vintage Yamaha and Wurlitzer student keyboards.
