Oregon Talking Book and Braille Library Talking Book and Braille Services provides audio and Braille books to print-disabled Oregonians. Postal Service as FREE MATTER.

Talking Book and Braille Services is a regional library for the National Library for the Blind and Physically Handicapped of the Library of Congress. Talking Books provides FREE audio and Braille library books to people who are vision impaired, low vision, physically handicapped, or reading disabled. The library books are for all ages and cover the same titles and subjects found in public librarie

s and bookstores. The books from Talking Books are FREE to use and travel through the U.S. To access Talking Books, fill out an application for service found at http://tbabs.org and have the last page certified by doctor, nurse, social worker, librarian, or other appropriate professional.

Our friends at Wolfner Library in Missouri have compiled the list of titles for the Great American Read from the PBS program of the same name. The series that will begin airing on May 22 and run through October will be found on your local OPB station or online at PBS.org.

Fisher suffered a massive heart attack on a flight from London to Los Angeles last week. A spokeswoman for Fisher's daughter said the actress died Tuesday morning.

The Oregon State Library and the Talking Book and Braille Library will be closed on 4/1/16 for a staff in-service day. Users will still be able to access BARD, send email, and leave voice mail messages but no mail service or walk-in service will be available on April 1. We will be resuming our normal schedule on 4/4/16.

NW Natural and Salem Public Library are happy to present the documentary Black Girl in Suburbia on May 7 from 3-5pm. Join them for a special screening of the film followed by a talk with Director/Producer Melissa Lowery. The film will be screened in the Loucks Auditorium at the library and the event is free and open to the community.

This documentary is about shared experiences between African American women and girls raised in predominately white communities. Donate @ www.blackgirlinsuburbia.com
