Earlier today, a Deputy assigned to the our Warrants Unit was made aware of a law enforcement scam in which a person spoke with someone on the phone who claimed they worked for our agency. The potential victim was told that they had a warrant, and if they made a payment, that the warrant would be recalled. The potential victim drove instead to our Law Enforcement Center, where our Deputy spoke with the "employee" of our agency. After posing some challenging questions, the caller hung up.
Please remember these tips in regards to law enforcement scams:
First, scammers will create a sense of urgency in order to get a potential victim to act in a way that they might not otherwise due to the stressful situation.
Second, law enforcement will not ask for, nor accept any money, to have a lawfully obtained warrant recalled.
Third, if someone asks you to pay anything with a gift card, consider it to be a scam.
Fourth, the Oconee County Sheriff's Office (SC) does not have any employees named "Captain Stevens" or a "Lieutenant Dean McFarland."

Hello, everyone, I’m Jazzy Jeff Bright. I’ve been in radio a long time and done just about everything their is to do. Over 27 years to be exact. I’m proud of the things I’ve done in this business. Radio is supposed to be fun and entertaining. I do want to say that I support our local stations in Oconee County. 101.7 WGOG and 94.1/1150 AM WSNW The Lake. They do a super job in keeping Oconee informed with news and Information. Plus they provide entertainment too. But I felt that Oconee was missing a real good Oldies and Classic Hits station. A station that plays true Oldies and Classic Hits from the 50’s, 60’s, 70’s and 80’s. That’s why I decided to create Lake Keowee Radio Online. Our mission is to provide you an online station that plays the best Oldies and Classic Hits. Online radio has grown by leaps and bounds and continues to grow. Lake Keowee Radio provides you a quality sound with the music you grew up with. We also specialized in Carolina Beach Music. I’ve been playing Carolina Beach music for years and love it so much. I created this format back in 1993. And I’ve kept that tradition of the same basic principle of Oldies and Classic Hits. I was the first to bring it to the upstate in 1994 a weekend Carolina Beach Show on 104.9 WCCP-FM Clemson.
