During the freak hail storm this past week, our egg stand blew away. 😬😬😬 We’re back at it, though the cooler is a little worse for wear and now on the ground.

Listen. I seized on this break in the storms to move, feed, and water the last chickens of 2025. I took this picture on my way out. Within 15 minutes I found myself running back to the house through a hail storm. I covered the chickens before I took off, but then I TOOK OFF. Somewhere along the way, I dropped my AirPods and I turned around to look for them in the hail, in the “chicken s**t runway”.

In case anyone asks, my favorite THINGS are as follows: 1) coffee, 2) dark chocolate sea salt caramels, 3) iPhone + AirPods, 4) weighted blanket, 5) wool socks.

Throwback to that one day when Ella brought me a beer. It’s the thought that counts. A for effort.

It’s officially that time of year — the mornings are frosty, there’s ice in the water buckets, and the smell of wood smoke is creeping into the air. While everyone else is lining up for pumpkin spice lattes, we’re reaching for the slow cooker.
