This is why the infant care and Triple P programs I facilitate also help parents, by building self-care into their curricula. Being connected to community partners means I can guide caregivers to needed resources to hopefully reduce their stress.
Children presume your stress is their fault unless you assure them that they're not, and that you have things under control (or that you're working on it and it'll be okay). Because if you're not in control, who is?

Babies feel what we feel.
Even before they have the words, they sense tension, worry and change.

That’s why supporting caregivers is supporting babies.

This is reality: most of the people who abuse children are the ones who are supposed to love and protect them. Sometimes parents do what was done to them because they don't know other ways of raising children. We can break that cycle! My services are free to all Rowan County residents, and the Triple P program is free online in NC - because we all need a little help sometimes!

Duke University and the University of Pittsburgh want Teens between 13 and 15 and their Parents to complete a survey once every 4 months over 2 years (7 times total). We’re exhausted, and we need your help!

Our staff is doing everything possible—posting, photographing, walking, networking—just to give these sweet animals a chance at adoption. But the truth is, we are worn out and we are out of space.

August is always one of our busiest times of year, and this summer has been no exception. Owner surrender appointments have been paused or cancelled, but stray animals continue to arrive from the public at an alarming rate. We’re drowning.

We’ve scheduled a Clear the Kennels Adoption Event this Saturday with greatly reduced adoption fees—but we can’t wait until then. We desperately need adopters now.
