Coach T's Corner

Coach T's Corner Educating, supporting, inspiring, and empowering personal growth and personal relationship skills in preteens and teens for their success!

As an experienced coach and mentor, I have dedicated over 35 years to guiding and supporting young men and women on their path to success. Nothing brings me greater joy than witnessing the transformation and accomplishments of the youth I work with. I founded Coach T's Corner with a clear purpose in mind—to complement the invaluable work of the nonprofit organization JLT Fieldhouse, which focuses

on coaching and mentoring the leaders of tomorrow. Recognizing the gap in the school curriculum, I understood that today's preteens and teens require essential skills that aren't being adequately addressed. Education, support, and inspiration are consistently needed to ensure the success of our youth now and in the future. As the author of "The S.E.A. Of Success: The Ultimate Guide to Success for Preteens and Teens," I aim to provide a comprehensive resource that equips young individuals with the tools they need to thrive. In addition to my writing endeavors, I also host the podcast "Developing Tomorrow's Leader" and co-host "TeenSpeak: Empowering Today's Youth." These platforms provide a space for preteens, teens, and college students to share their challenges and the strategies they've employed to overcome them. My primary focus is assisting parents in educating, supporting, and inspiring the personal growth skills of their preteens and teens. My ultimate goal is to equip young individuals with the necessary tools to take ownership of their lives and pave the way for a prosperous future. In an educational landscape that often overlooks the importance of soft skills, I am passionate about empowering the next generation of leaders with these critical abilities, helping them unlock their full potential. Are you ready to empower your preteens and teens with the skills they need for a successful future? Let's work together to equip them with the tools to take ownership of their lives and unlock their full potential. Contact me today to discuss how my coaching and mentoring services can support your family's journey towards personal growth and success. Together, we can pave the way for a brighter future for the next generation of leaders.

Confidence is not something you either have or don't have.

It is built. Rep by rep. Decision by decision.

Here are 3 things any teen can do TODAY:

1️⃣ Name one thing you are genuinely good at — and say it out loud. Not to be arrogant. To own what's true about you.

2️⃣ Do one thing today that scares you a little. Not something reckless. Something that stretches you. That's where confidence lives.

3️⃣ Catch yourself in a negative thought and replace it with a question: "Is that actually true — or is that my fear talking?"

Confidence isn't loud. It's unshakable. And it starts with those three steps.

Save this. Practice it. Share it with a teen who needs it today.

Here's a conversation that happens in almost every school I've walked into.

A student fails to turn something in. The teacher asks why. The student gives a reason. And the conversation ends there.

What's missing? The bridge between "here's why it happened" and "here's what I'm going to do differently." That bridge is accountability. And it is one of the most underdeveloped skills in student populations today.

Accountability is not punishment. It's the practice of owning your actions, understanding their impact, and making a plan to do better.

When we teach teens that difference — when we make it safe to own a mistake without fear of humiliation — we unlock something powerful. That is the teen who becomes the adult everyone wants on their team.

What does accountability look like in your school culture?

"You don't have to have children of your own to love, guide, and inspire them. Every young person deserves a village, and love is the most powerful tool in shaping their future."

This is something I believe with everything in me.

I've spent 35 years being part of that village — on basketball courts, in classrooms, in living rooms, and through every program I've built.

The teens in your life are watching you. Not just what you say. How you show up.

Who is in your teen's village right now? Tag them. Thank them. Tell them they matter. Because they do.

Three things determine whether any young person actually succeeds. Not their grades. Not their school. Not their zip code.

S — Simplicity: Break it down. Make it actionable. Big goals become possible one clear step at a time.

E — Effort: There is no substitute. Effort is a choice — made every day, whether anyone is watching or not.

A — Attitude: Your mindset is the multiplier. Two people with the same skills get completely different results based on what they believe is possible.

S.E.A. of Success® — the framework I built my life around and have taught to thousands of young people for 40 years. Save this.

Share it with a teen.

Which one do YOU need most right now? S, E, or A?

Every child deserves a village that sees their potential before their performance.

Not after the grades come in.
Not after the behavior improves.
Not after they prove themselves worthy of investment.

Before.

That belief is not a tagline.
It is the foundation of everything we do.

The Village of Inspiration™ is a private, global community of professionals — educators, coaches, therapists, authors, advocates, and leaders — united by that one conviction.

We span four countries.
We represent multiple disciplines.
We serve one mission.

And today, we step into a larger room.

This page is not about us.
It is about every young person who deserves a village that shows up for them — consistently, intentionally, and without condition.

We are just getting started.

Welcome to the Village. 🏡

What's one thing you wish someone had taught you before you got to high school?

How to deal with fake friends?
How to actually study?
How to talk to people you disagree with?
How to say no without feeling guilty?

Drop it in the comments. I'm genuinely asking — because the answers matter more than you know.

And if you're a parent or educator reading this — share it with a teen and see what they say. The answer might surprise you.

We’ve spent years preparing students academically.
But somewhere along the way, many young people stopped learning how to confidently communicate, build healthy relationships, handle adversity, manage emotions, and navigate real-world challenges.

And colleges, employers, and communities are noticing it.

This is not about blaming parents, teachers, or schools.
It’s about recognizing a growing gap that too many young people are silently struggling through.

The good news?
Life skills can be taught. Confidence can be built. Leadership can be developed. Communication can improve. And young people can absolutely be equipped to thrive both inside AND outside the classroom.

The conversation is changing… and it’s time we start preparing our teens for life, not just tests.

Something meaningful is coming. 💡

Every year, colleges and employers tell us the same thing:

Our graduates are academically capable — but socially under-prepared. 📉

Communication. Accountability. Time management. Navigating conflict. Owning outcomes.

These aren't personality traits you're either born with or without. They're skills. And like any skill — math, writing, cooking — they can be taught.

But only if someone takes responsibility for teaching them.

So who is that someone?

I've spent nearly 40 years believing it's all of us. Schools. Parents. Coaches. Mentors. The whole village.

We can't expect teens to just "pick this up" along the way. Not when the stakes are this high.

Let's close the gap — together.

What do kids actually need from the adults in their lives? 🤔

I had the chance to share my thoughts on exactly that as a guest on the Gap to Gig Podcast with host Michael Jacobs — and it was a conversation I know will resonate with every parent, coach, and mentor out there.

Here's one thing I want every adult to hear:

👉 That car ride home after a game? It's one of the most important parenting moments you have. Your child already knows how they played. What they need from YOU is encouragement — not a review session.

Connection first. Correction second. Always.

We also talked about:
🔹 The hidden pressures kids are managing every single day
🔹 How involving kids in decisions builds real ownership and confidence
🔹 Why the S.E.A. of Success® (Simplicity, Effort, Attitude) is a game-changer for families and coaches alike

This is the work. This is why Coach T's Corner® exists — to help the whole village show up better for young people.
