Tonight, my heart is heavy as I once again attempt to process the brutal ex*****on of a Delaware State Trooper. Gunned down by an assassin this afternoon in New Castle County. I extend my deepest condolences to the Delaware State Police following the senseless loss of one of their own.

The ex*****on of a Trooper in the line of duty is a profound reminder of the dangers our law enforcement professionals face every day in service to others while serving our communities.

To the Trooper’s family, friends, and fellow Troopers, please know that you do not grieve alone. The law enforcement community across this nation stands with you, united in sorrow, strength, and resolve. We honor a life of courage, sacrifice, and an unwavering commitment to protecting others. That’s what we do.

On behalf of the men and women of the Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office, may God grant comfort to all who mourn, give strength to those who continue to watch, and eternal peace to this fallen hero. We will never forget you, brother!!!

In the early morning hours of Saturday, December 6, a fleet of 14 Perdue trucks were blessed by Pocomoke Pastor Lance Ness before making their way to the Holly Center, where staff, community volunteers, and family members were helping residents safely navigate raised platforms leading to the truck cabs for the ride down Snow Hill Road.

In 1976, when CB (Citizen Band) radios were all the rage, country music legend Red Sovine released his now classic tune “Teddy Bear,” about a disabled youngster whose trucker dad, who used to take him on runs, died in a crash.
