So that God may very well have pulled us all aside before mortality and said something to the effect of, “You have no idea what a pain in the butt it is going to be to get you from Point A to Point B. But despite the pain…I’ve got a whole village of your brothers and sisters who have volunteered to sacrifice their innocence so that they can blow off the frustration that is required to help CHANGE you. SO…you’d best figure out how to forgive…and do it fast!!!! On earth, such a pep talk makes sense. Because the Atonement, a principle already built into this plan, is God operating forgiveness. And for a person to intimately understand how that process works, how the process cleanses one from their mistakes, an individual would have to understand PSYCHOLOGICALLY how forgiveness works, knowing how to actively operate it and apply it to one who had wronged them. Such first hand knowledge would be required for an individual to actively believe that forgiveness could factually be applied to them. Otherwise, an individual whose conception could not account for the power of forgiveness, if that individual was informed that they themselves had been forgiven through the atonement, in that persons mind they’d process such information in the following manner: “Forgiven???…I can’t and don’t believe in such rubbish.” To a person who can’t forgive…to them the concept of forgiveness is impossible. To them, there is no psychological power strong enough to change the past....their past.
