At only eight measures, two verses, and tied for the shortest hymn in the hymnal, “Anytime, Anywhere” fits comfortably and fully on our page! Its power lies in its approachability in both simplicity and length, and the dynamic message it shares - that we can pray anytime, anywhere. And that we can receive answers anytime, anywhere, too. Episode 4 with songwriter, Angie Killian, out now.

After taking a hiatus from sharing new episodes, due to deliberations with the Church to see if our podcast could roll into their “About the Hymns” project, followed by a choice to stay separate and rename the podcast instead, we have finally released our fourth episode of Latter-day Hymn Stories!

Our good friend, Angie Killian, sat down with us and shared her story of how her viral, beloved song, “My Own Sacred Grove,” paved the way for the selection of one of her shortest and simplest songs yet, “Anytime, Anywhere,” which adapts the message of prayer and revelation found in “My Own Sacred Grove,” to some of our youngest singers. You will love this candid and joyful discussion with Angie. Episode 4 out now.

To prepare “Gethsemane” for inclusion in our new hymnal, the sheet music was reduced to only two pages by removing the intro and ending. The lyrics, however, stayed much the same, including the treasured bridge and the final line that emphasizes the relevance of our Savior’s gift of the Atonement to us today. Hear more about this Church review process in Melanie Hoffman’s episode of Latter-day Hymn Stories.
