Partners artists Andrea Anderson  and Lor Begent  have created this beautiful piece that will be featured in our upcoming Partners Program Exhibition starting Friday, September 20th.

Both Andrea and their mentor Lor have been working in watercolor and implementing masking techniques to create works that evoke the style of Japanese art. Andrea began the mentorship as an artist working primarily in colored pencils, and is now creating stunning painted works.

In this piece, the horse was created by Andrea and Lor contributed the tiger and bottom design.

We can’t wait to see the other pieces that these two bring to next month’s show!

Created in 1991, Partners is a mentoring program that matches an emerging artist with a disability with an established artist for 25 hours of collaborative mentoring in the artists’ creative medium. Both artists are paid for their time on the project, and a materials stipend is provided. The main focus of the program is for the emerging artist to learn new artistic skills and about how to be a professional artist.

The Partners experience culminates in a group exhibit with all emerging and established artists sharing their work.

Image Description:

A 27x40 inch watercolor painting by Andrea Anderson and Lor Begent depicts a dynamic scene where a grey horse dappled with white spots, adorned with a colorful saddle and bridle, rears up against a vibrant blue background of swirling patterns, clouds, and pink cherry blossoms. Below, a fierce, intricately detailed tiger with black and white markings roars from a chaotic, earth-toned terrain. The composition radiates power, vibrancy, and whimsy, blending bold colors and intricate designs into a captivating visual story.
