Our hearts at Scene in SA Magazine are shattered by the tragic flash floods that struck Texas Hill Country early on July 4, 2025. As of this afternoon , at least 43 people have lost their lives—including fifteen children—and more than 27 girls remain missing from Camp Mystic amid catastrophic flooding along the Guadalupe River .

We mourn the innocent lives lost—precious children and families whose laughter was silenced in an instant. To the communities of Kerr County, Kerrville, Hunt, Ingram, and beyond: we stand with you in grief, prayer, and unwavering support.

Please consider helping:
• Donate to the Community Foundation of the Texas Hill Country Flood Relief Fund, which is directing aid to vetted local recovery efforts at 📲 https://tinyurl.com/KerrFloodRelief
• Share updates from trusted local officials; focus on verified information to avoid misdirection during this crisis.

May healing follow devastation. May hope rise from sorrow. Our thoughts and prayers are with you - Scene in SA Staff ❤️🙏🏽

A Day at the Pride River Theater Celebration 🏳️‍🌈✨ The theme for this year’s River Theater Celebration was Rainbow Rodeo, and folks did not disappoint: iridescent cowboy hats glistened, bright beads abounded like life-affirming lassoes, and yes, there was fringe
✨ The annual event was created by Visit San Antonio to “promote the city’s inclusion, encouragement, and support of the LGBTQ+ community to live openly with equal rights.” When it comes to human justice, visibility is vitality. It’s more important than ever to take your space, reaffirm your support, and show up for those you care about; not only during Pride Month this June, but every day of the year. 🌈

Beefing Up Broadway: Development Downtown 🏙️✨
Jones Avenue, off of Broadway, was a lonesome sandy-colored road fifteen years ago, home to the San Antonio Museum of Art—and not much else. Today, the art museum is practically hidden. The trees are grown, and new apartment buildings and pubs crowd the street. River North is among San Antonio’s newly flourishing neighborhoods, urban renewal happening uptown and downtown 🏡
✨The latest development [being built] across from the Pearl on Broadway, they’re saving an old facade … so compared to other cities, we are a bit more considerate,” says Dr. Vincent Michael, Executive Director of the San Antonio Conservation Society, its mission to protect historical architecture.

Boho in Bloom 🌻How to Style the Season’s Most Effortless Trend ✨
Boho style has officially evolved. Forget the over-layered, fringe-heavy festival looks of the past—2025’s bohemian aesthetic is softer, sleeker, and effortlessly cool. It’s all about intentional texture, flowy silhouettes, and a little South Texas sparkle.
