When we moved in, there was an empty room in the basement, and I instantly knew it had to become a play area for the kids!

I started with a hand-painted accent wall, and made the Sweetgum indoor sensory playset the centerpiece.

This piece was on its last leg. Falling apart, filled with crickets, and covered in layers of chipping paint.
I took it apart, cleaned every inch, and stripped it down to the bones. After hours of work, I finished it off with a beautiful, rich stain.
It didn’t turn out perfectly, but it’s full of character and ready to live another 100 years. 🤎

I get excited every time I find a piece with Knapp Joints 🤍 I stripped and sanded the old finish and used a tan paint for a wash the sealed everything with a topcoat. I polished the original hardware and finished it off by lining the drawers with this beautiful wallpaper. This piece has so much charm and gorgeous carved details! Let me know what you think!
