“As an artist, I enjoy making things for my home,” says Amanda Rivera of the beloved Austin studio Mother of God Ceramics, sitting in the living room of the charming Spanish Colonial in Travis Heights near an immense painting by the local artist Alexandra Valenti. She shares the home with her husband, Luke Borders, and their child. “A lot of the things that I make, I’ll test out in my home first, and just sit with it. Every little thing matters — the way it feels, looks, and responds to its surroundings.”
