Fort Sam Houston… this place brings back so many memories. From my own time here training, to being here permanent party in the trauma center at BAMC, to coming back for the NCO Academy - so much of my career centered around this place. This statute - this embodies everything that I served for - so others may live and to conserve the fighting strength! Because of this place I met my incredible wife (Cristy) who also served as an Army Medic (no we did not meet in AIT!). And now, this place serves as a legacy point for our family as our son now begins his career journey as a Navy Corpsman - so many memories for us and now new memories as the next generation of military service from our family joins the ranks and continues our family legacy of service to this great Nation!

What an awesome morning! While in San Antonio I was fortunate enough to have breakfast with my former Platoon Sergeant from my time in Germany and Iraq. Other than my father, the list of people who I credit for my military and civilian successes is limited. is definitely one that I was honored to serve with and learn from. Having some time with him this morning over breakfast to catch up, and to share that experience with my son as he graduates Corpsman school Monday and begins his military medical journey was definitely a special moment.

Let me start off by saying - I DID NOT want to run tonight. My legs hurt, my knees hurt, and I had ZERO motivation. I have no obligation to do this - except I made a commitment to myself… If I quit in myself I’m no good to my wife or kids, I’m not good to my employers or my leadership, so quitting wasn’t an option. Not my fastest time lately, but I’ll take it and the win for accomplishing what I committed to myself to do.
Quitting is easy…. I don’t do easy!

A couple weeks back while at the NRA National meeting in Atlanta I had the honor and privilege to meet Norm Hooten, more popularized as “Hoot” from the famed movie Black Hawk Down that stories the Battle of Mogadishu and Operation Gothic Serpent. It’s not too often the paths of work and family cross… Today, my official job took me down to Ft Bragg for an upcoming project meeting. While I was on Post, I had the extreme privilege to hop over to my best friend’s son’s unit and pin his E5/SGT stripes today! you have made both your parents and your not-parents extremely proud! Your consistent efforts and hard-charging attitude reflects greatly on your potential to grow in your role as a Non-Commissioned Officer! Lean forward and train, mentor and lead from the front! Congratulations SGT Miracle!
