The San Antonio Police Department detained a protester outside the Marriott Rivercenter Saturday morning after a planned demonstration took place during Turning Point USA’s Women’s Leadership Summit.

A dozen protestors were face-to-face with police as they held the property line, while protestors chanted, held signs, and used noisemakers.

“Our goal was to disrupt and make as much noise as we could to let her know she (Erika Kirk) was not welcome,” Organizer for People’s Verdict David Maldonado said.

Outside of the arrest, demonstrators remained peaceful as attendees from the summit walked past and debated with protestors.

There is no other planned protest for the remainder of the weekend as the event continues.

Conservative women from all over the country packed the Marriott Rivercenter Friday for the first of three days of Turning Point USA’s Women’s Leadership Summit, where attendees gained firsthand experience in maintaining their faith and womanhood.

Attendees listened intently as TPUSA CEO Erika Kirk, Ark. Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders, President of Students for Life of America Kristan Hawkins, Culture Apothecary podcast host Alex Clark and more spoke at the event.
“As women, we are made for obligations that are greater than ourselves. It’s in our DNA,” Kirk said. “That’s why it’s nearly impossible to find satisfaction in this world when you are relentlessly focused on what you can get versus what you can contribute.”

The Women’s Leadership Summit continues through Sunday with speakers Riley Gaines, Texas Sen. Angela Paxton, former White House press secretary Kayleigh McEnany, and more scheduled to appear.

Several hundred supporters packed Paper Tiger on the St. Mary’s Strip Friday as State Rep. James Talarico kicked off his U.S. Senate campaign in San Antonio. Attendees cited issues including education, affordability and government accountability as reasons for supporting the Democratic nominee ahead of November’s election.

“The number of young people who have been showing up to our events has just blown me away,” Talarico said. “The number of young people who are signing up to volunteer and donate for this campaign is unprecedented.”

Supporters heard Talarico outline his campaign message and discuss the role young voters could play in the upcoming election. The general election is set for Nov. 3, 2026.

A pop-up art exhibition transformed the space beneath Echo Bridge on May 30, turning an unconventional location into a vibrant showcase of creativity. Organized by the art collective There Will Be Cake, the event featured artwork from 34 artists, live performances, a short film and, of course, cake for guests to enjoy.

“The antithesis of what we didn’t want to be is the sterile white-walled galleries,” founder Elyse Victoria Faith Reed said. “To just hang art on a blank white wall, it takes all the dazzle away from it.”

Designed to be welcoming and inclusive, There Will Be Cake creates opportunities for artists of all backgrounds and experience levels to share their work in unique spaces while building community through exhibitions and social mixers.

The match also featured a heated second-half altercation near the corner after Jorge Hernandez was fouled, igniting chants of “Ref you suck” from the Toyota Field crowd as SAFC held on for the win. Read more at www.sacsundial.com

A dark cloud lingered around Game 2 of the Western Conference Finals in Oklahoma City. With the San Antonio Spurs up 1-0 after a historic night featuring Victor Wembanyama’s 41 points, 24 rebounds, and 49 minutes played, there was a vibration in our city that hasn’t been felt in a long time. The possibility of the Spurs going up 2-0 against the defending champs had Spurs fans on the edge of their seats.

Wednesday’s game proved to be a sight for sore eyes for San Antonio. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, who was crowned league MVP for the second straight year on Monday, dominated with thirty points, nine rebounds, four assists, and shooting 50% from the field. In comparison, Alex Caruso added 17 points, three rebounds, and five assists. Together, they led the Thunder to a 122-113 victory, forcing the Spurs into 21 turnovers.

But even after a loss, die-hard Spurs fans stand with their team, and on Wednesday night, a few dozen fans waited at San Antonio International Airport to welcome their Spurs home. Read more at www.sacsundial.com.
