What happens when a disillusioned Latino artist and a country-boy aspiring writer cross paths after a tough loss? They create something truly original. 3rd Place is a heartfelt story about creativity, failure, friendship, and the power of telling your own story when the world says "no."

This film was shot in Yoakum, Victoria, and La Grange, Texas!!!! Directed by Edwin, a proud Latino filmmaker from small-town Texas and a graduate of UT Austin, 3rd Place is a love letter to underdogs and dreamers. Edwin’s past work has earned awards like Best Documentary and the Latino Media Arts and Studies Award, and he's back with another powerful story that champions Latino voices in film.

Based in Austin, Edwin brings his passion for authentic representation, storytelling, and indie grit. Working as a freelance editor, colorist, and VFX artist, to every frame of 3rd Place.
