Nice surprise to see my cousin Mary and her husband, Bryce at the San Antonio Literary History Plática yesterday. Sponsored by Gemini Ink, I was asked to record the event with Tomás Ybarra-Frausto and of course Bryce Milligan as moderators. Great discussion!

I'm really grateful to have received really nice feedback from clients on my Thumbtack profile. Here are a few...

"Pleasantly surprised to find state of the art recording capabilities at such an affordable price!
Not only was Gerard highly professional and knowledgeable, but his insightful critiques and suggestions were very helpful in attaining the level of performance we are striving for on this project." Raymond A

"Gerard Bustos went above and beyond the call of duty for videotaping our 2.5 day event. Hire him to oversee/serve/service your next project, and you will be glad you did! My team couldn't say enough about Gerard's and the Red Door team's professionalism, plus we got some great video footage. Salute!" Heather M.

"Gerard was amazing on our first recording sessions. Very professional and helpful. He helped me turn something simple into something I actually enjoyed. Highly recommended! I was deeply satisfied with our first project." Carlos H.

"Gerard was extremely professional during all stages of production, from working with me ahead of my speaking event, to scoping out the conference center early and working with me on creative ideas during the editing stages. He was easy to work with during my videography shoot and provided quality equipment for video and audio needs. He made sure I got exactly what I needed in a timely fashion. I would definitely use him again!" Melissa W.

It's refreshing to still rely on a few old film style lessons when shooting digitally these days. Changing lenses, focal lengths, aperture, and color grading all still relevant in film making. Wanna make a short film? Call me!

I was recently asked to produce a video interview with the client's 89 year old grandmother. They asked to keep their identity anonymous because of some of the stories' details, but it was important for them to document their family's past. Please contact me if you have a family history you would like to capture professionally.

I'm so proud of my student from a year ago who submitted her graduate project into the E2F2 film festival and won best picture! Congratulations Ms Pena! I get an award too for directing and editing the film! I'm very proud of my friend Cindy!

Over the years, the technology has certainly changed for video producers and audio engineers, but the basics are still the same. Listen to your client. Tell their story. Take extra steps to record clean audio and clean video to the best of your ability. Never, ever, ever stick your finger in a live electric socket just to see what it feels like.
