The second of two BRAND NEW BOOKS for 2025 is the whimsical "A Brief History of Friendship" by Edward S. Louis. Subtitled "Stories from Harmon Falls," this charming collection of anecdotes features semi-biographical musings from the author's childhood and coming-of-age set in the fictitious community of Harmon Falls.

If you enjoy Garrison Keillor, then this book is definitely for you!

These twelve stories focus on a group of neighborhood children who come together to save their beloved park—forming deep, lifelong friendships that will endure into adulthood.

While these stories offer insight into many aspects of friendship, they also explore—and in many ways define—what it means to grow up in small town America.

Happy to announce today's release of a wonderful new memoir, "Becoming Lila" by Lila Hietala Sanden.

"Becoming Lila" is an American coming-of-age story... and so much more. Laced with the author’s zest for life, her passion for the people surrounding her and a wonderful, absurdist humor—even in the shadow of tragedy and loss—it is the story of a life well-lived.

From her earliest memories of growing up in a traditional Finnish family in Minnesota, to the harrowing days of high school and an increasingly abusive alcoholic father—to a fairytale romance with a future US Navy Captain, seemingly forever on the move while raising her own children.

There is much today’s generation can learn from Lila. Her voice is strong—it makes the reader want to listen—yet her words are gentle and poetic. The stories are sometimes emotional, sometimes hilarious, but always mesmerizing. Becoming Lila is a poignant and entertaining memoir—as relevant today as it ever was.

Today we are pleased to announce the official publication of "Heroes: Humanity's Resilience. A Sketchbook of War in Ukraine" by Sara Barcus

A facsimile of Sara Barcus's original sketchbook, "Heroes" depicts events from the first year of the war following the invasion of Ukraine by Russia, illustrating the heroism and resilience of Ukrainians during the senseless destruction and trauma of Russia’s brutal invasion. 77 original sketches based on actual, first-hand accounts of those who lived and died (and continue to survive) amid the carnage.

A well known and respected San Antonio based mixed-media artist, Sara Barcus began posting her sketches on social media and soon gained a massive following, including soldiers and families serving on the front lines of the fighting, many of whom reached out to her with their personal stories of horror and sacrifice. The sketches are based on actual stories and experiences from the war as relayed to the artist or reported via various sources.

The sketches formed the basis of a highly-acclaimed art show/exhibit at HíjoleSA, Blue Star Arts Complex in San Antonio, Texas in 2023.

Since the exhibit, many of the original sketches have been sold, with all profits from sales being donated to support UNBROKEN Ukraine https://unbroken.org.ua/. Some sketches are still available and can be purchased directly from the artist. Please message for details.

Book size: 8.5" x 11" 126-pages, full-color throughout on premium art paper.

Please note: The artist/author is donating 100% of royalties from this book—as well as profits from ALL sales of the original artwork—to UNBROKEN, Ukraine’s work in rehabilitation and prosthetics.

A legend has passed.

I am sad to report that Vito Cellini passed away yesterday, April 28, peacefully in his sleep, following a short illness. He was a magnificent 100 years old.

It has been a privilege and pleasure to call him my friend for the past eight years and his story will, I hope, live forever.

RIP Tutuc.
