SA Monthly Magazine on location with Editors Bryan Shreve and Sandra Shreve at the “Fourth on the River” concert in Kerrville, Texas! The Hill Country knows how to celebrate Independence Day! The show could easily be titled, “Why I love America,” with our flag flowing freely, watching the richness of diversity, joining friends and family, and enjoying our deep heritage of freedom, music, and food.

The Louise Hays Park with Guadalupe River meandering alongside and splash pad for the kids is the perfect setting for a venue of this magnitude. The City of Kerrville, organizers, and volunteers are exceptional.

Fantastic music with Robert Earl Keen, Willow City, Robyn Ludwyck, Bruce Robinson, Tyler Childers, and an incredible opening and National Anthem performed by Philip Nelson.

A special thanks to Philip Nelson’s family for the invite! Great meeting Congressman Chip Roy and his district director Nathan McDaniel! Great times, and as always support local businesses, artists, and SA Monthly Magazine. Love America, and love and share our posts as always!

We love escaping that hot summer air by jumping in the water for a refreshing swim. We find a nice lake or beach, dive in, and relax. Unfortunately, some of us don't expect what these bodies of water hold. Some hold snakes, others sharks, and others still deadly poisons that can kill you in seconds....

SA Monthly Magazine editors Bryan Shreve and Sandra Shreve on site at the Main Plaza on June 15, and at the heart of San Antonio with the Main Plaza Conservancy - San Antonio’s 5th Anniversary Celebration, with the Mezcla Mariachi, featuring music sensations Stephanie Urbina Jones with special guest appearance by Juan Ortiz, and the Honky Tonk Mariachis, Patricia Vonne, Mariachi Corazon de San Antonio, Dr. Rachel Yvonne Cruz, Juan Cabera, Arpisia Bailnado Sin Fronteras, Randy Cordero Flamenco, San Antonio – The Saga, and hosted by the Sonny Melendrez.

A privilege to witness rising super stars in popular Latin music, country, and rock with a fresh twist of both artists carving out their own new trail towards a revival in Mexican and American music. Their soulful voices are reminiscent of songs long ago touching our hearts feeling the lyrics and changing tempos as the remedy for both genres and both cultures find serenity in their mutual compassion and history through this new style of music.

Most notable, Patricia Vonne, incredible musical artist, performer, song writer, filmmaker, activist, releasing her 7th studio album, winner of the Madrid International Film Festival for Best Animation awards for Huerta de San Vicente, Patricia Vonne’s incredibly sophisticated sexy voice is absolutely her own. Patricia Vonne voted the best female vocalist in 2014-15 at the Austin Music Awards.

Stephanie Urbina Jones received a standing ovation at the Grand Ole Opry for her unique style of blending bilingual songs with classic country and the art of mariachi performance. This “Texicana country folk-rock” is the answer to bringing two incredibly historic genres together and recognizes a common bond between both cultures. Regardless of political ideology, Stephanie Urbina Jones is on track to be the next Queen of Country Music inclusive of all fans. Our country is ready for a fresh new sound that respects the musical history and culture of both. Other great musical artists were on hand that made the event one of the best musical performances in 2019. Most important performers, bravo to the Mariachi Corazon de San Antonio (students), Juan Cabrera, Dr. Rachel Yvonne Cruz, Roland de la Cruz, Cecilio Rodriguez, Patterson Barrett, accompanied by so many more. Special thanks to Executive Director Jane Pauley-Flores - incredible show.

On a side note, it was great meeting friends, and making new friends at the Saga Celebration on Main Plaza. The San Fernando Cathedral is a world treasure. We are blessed. The video masterpiece by artist Xavier de Richemont on the façade of the Cathedral is why Texas is proud of our blended cultures. As always support your local businesses, artists, and follow them on social media! Remember love and share!
