Congratulations to our athletes of the week: Hefziba Arana and Drew Dunning.

Hefziba had dominating performances in the water polo team's two victories last week. In helping the team to a 2-0 start to the season, she had seventeen steals, seven assists, and added three goals.

In his first year as a cross country runner, Drew has improved by leaps and bounds. At the rain-soaked CIF Prelims, Drew ran a personal best time of 19:49 over three miles, which marked an over four minute improvement from the beginning of the season.

Nice going Cardinals! Your teammates, coaches, and school are all very proud of you.

Congratulations to our athletes of the week: Leonel Esparza and Jasmine Mena.

Only a freshman, Leo ran his first varsity race in last week's MVL Cross Country Finals. Finishing in 20th place overall, he helped the boys secure a spot in the CIF Prelims.

Not to be outdone, Jasmine played a crucial role in the girls' cross country undefeated league championship. Finishing in sixth place overall, she earned first team all MVL honors.

Nice going Cardinals! Your teammates, coaches, and school are all very proud of you.

SBHS hosted a Black Scholar Career Day and Resource Faire on November 6th. Approximately 95 students and fifteen presenters attended. The students were able to meet real estate agents, RNs, CHPs, attorneys, speech therapists, marriage counselors, daycare owners, entrepreneurs such as trucking company owners and more. Many of them made meaningful connections with specific students and brought engaging materials—props, flyers, videos, and valuable real-life experiences and resources. Our students were engaged in the event, asking questions, having great conversations, and showing genuine curiosity.

Students and staff dress up at San Bernardino High School on Friday, October 31st to show off their costumes for Halloween! Many student had amazing costumes and even showed their creativity skills today by making their own. Congratulations to our athletes of the week: Ana Quevedo and Randy Soltero.

In only her first year playing singles, Ana has excelled and had many crucial victories in league play. In last week's match against AB Miller, she went 3-0 helping the team to a third straight win against the Rebels and securing first place in the MVL.

Randy came off the bench to start against Pacific and his clutch performance helped the water polo team to a 12-8 victory. In doing so, he scored two goals, while also contributing four steals and an assist.

Nice going Cardinals!
