And then, this happened.
Airspace Media is honored and very humbled to have been chosen once again as Best of the Best in the 2019 Aviation Week Photo Contest, from among the best aviation-related images and photographers on the planet. Thank you Jim Asker and the other AvWeek contest judges!
This epic image, titled AirMageddon, was taken at the Wednesday evening air show at the Experimental Aircraft Association’s AirVenture 2019 in Oshkosh. The grand finale featured a mushroom-cloud-like fireball named “Dun-Diehl SuperNuke.”
The image puts the viewer on the edge of what appears to be a sci-fi invasion. The ground-to-air strafing all but depleted, one final round makes contact and the invading ship is destroyed.
I must give a congratulatory shoutout to creator Dion Diehl, president of DTG Pyrotechnics & Special FX, for without his simply spectacular effects, this image would not exist.
