Instead of rules handed down from the front of the room, students co-create the values, commitments, and conflict-resolution strategies that will guide them all year—then sign their names to it. This activity helps students understand that the kind of class they want to be in is the exact kind of class they have to build!

🇺🇸🎇 4th of July Activity | A Lesson in Empathy & Perspective
Fireworks can be exciting for many — but not everyone. This SEL lesson invites students into the perspectives we often forget: the dog hiding under the bed, the veteran flinching at every boom, the wildlife scared & scattered. Students learn the three types of empathy — cognitive, emotional, and compassionate — through the lens of a celebration nearly every kid knows, and walk away with one kind action they can take this 4th of July.
