kinda chic to defend our public lands against corporate greed!!

lately i haven’t been able to get the fact that our public lands are constantly being threatened out of my mind. we spend about 90% of our time off-grid calling these lands our home, and I constantly look around and genuinely am at a loss for words that anyone could dream about cutting them down.

since 2001, the Roadless Area Conservation Rule has protected these nearly 60 million acres of public land and that is currently in jeopardy. Even though 99% of civilian input opposed ruling back this rule, we still have to make our voices heard.

Please take one minute out of our day and hit the link in our bio, submit your pre-filed public comment, and use YOUR voice to protect these lands for ourselves and others. The deadline is September 21st!

hiking clothes are SO expensive so let’s try and thrift some ✨

in about two weeks gene and i are flying back to alaska to attend Sacred Acre AND hike through two of Alaskas national parks. We’re gonna be going on helicopters, boats, and sleeping in a van at sacred acre so we have LOTS to pack for but we’re doing it on a budget.

Thrift stores are our best friend when it comes to secondhand outfits and hiking gear so here’s what I’m looking for:

baggy waterproof pants
hiking shorts
fleece
neutral long sleeves
dancing outfits!!
a colorful warm vest for layering

and the grand total was under $115 and now it’s time t grab our suitcase and head to alaska!!

i’m just a vegan gal living in a bus trying to fix my gut health ok???

a friend of mine recently recommended Nourish to me after i was venting about how i felt like a “bad vegan” - my bloating was always making me uncomfy, i felt like wasn’t getting all my nutrients in, and tbh i didn’t really know where to start?? so i took a five minute quiz, matched with my dietitian, paid $0(!!!), and made a personalized plan. that easy

each day looks different eating in a bus and traveling full time, but im so excited to implement some of these changes as we make our way into fall!

holding on to summer in the mountains for as long as we possibly can!!! 🏔️✨

this week bean finished her first chemo treatment and with two weeks until her next one, we packed up the bus and finally got a chance to really experience a mt rainier summer

for some reason it feels like we always breeze past this park on our way somewhere else and it truly deserves an entire post because there’s SO much to do and an unlimited amount of swimming holes to discover

here’s a list of some of our favorite hikes and towns for your next trip 🌲
- skyline loop at sunrise (worth the early wake up)
- snow lake
- the town of packwood (such a gem outside the park with lots of sleep spots and places for coffee and food)
- Gemma Wojnar if you want to find the cutest store for mt rainier or pnw merch
- silver falls loop
- cougar rock campground (only one open in the park, we used camp flare to snag two cancellations!)

i may be a fall girly, but this past week reminded me im not quite done with summer yet

trying to score last minute national park campsites is officially my favorite past time so let’s pack ever minute and force gene to hike all over these mountains for the evening!!

p.s. you can set reminders on the recreation.gov app OR you can download Camp Flare and get notifications a little quicker! you still have to be SUPER speedy to book because tons of other people do this too, but it’s been the most successful way we’ve found!

i constantly hear about how the wildfires are getting worse each summer, but i very rarely hear discussions about the blatant “why”

the truth of the matter is, big oil companies knowingly burn fossil fuels, fuel droughts, and then sit back and turn profit while the west coast hits record-breaking wildfire numbers EACH YEAR

states like Vermont, New York, and recently Colorado have already started their journey to fight back against big oil polluters and we want to help the PNW follow suit!!
