Police Pursuit Ends in Chula Vista

On Wednesday, December 24, 2025, at approximately 1:27 AM, in Chula Vista, a police pursuit involving San Diego Police Department officers came to an end near Elm Avenue.

According to preliminary information, officers initially attempted to stop a vehicle for having no license plates near Euclid Avenue. The driver failed to yield, leading officers on a pursuit that continued into Chula Vista.

The suspect eventually drove into his own driveway, exited the vehicle, threw his keys, and surrendered without further incident. No injuries were reported.

San Diego Police are investigating whether drugs or alcohol may have been a factor. The investigation remains ongoing.

Man Killed in Deputy-Involved Shooting During Pow Wow in Imperial Beach

On Sunday, December 21, 2025, at approximately 1:40 PM, near Evergreen Avenue and Seacoast Drive in Imperial Beach, a man in his 40s was fatally wounded in a deputy-involved shooting near the Imperial Beach Pier.

Authorities confirmed the man was transported to UCSD Hillcrest Medical Center in CPR status with multiple gunshot wounds to the front of his body, where he was later pronounced deceased. No deputies were injured during the incident.

Due to large crowds in the area, several surrounding streets were shut down. The San Diego County Sheriff’s Department requested assistance from allied agencies, including the San Diego Police Department and the Chula Vista Police Department, to assist with crowd control. The public was asked to avoid the area as the scene was secured.

According to witness accounts, the incident occurred in front of a busy Indian PowWow event taking place near the pier. Witnesses stated the man may have been armed with an obsidian rock-type weapon or knife. Multiple agencies responded due to the size of the crowd and heightened tensions in the area.

A vendor who witnessed the shooting from his stand provided an interview but requested not to be shown on camera.

The identity of the deceased has not been released, and the circumstances surrounding the shooting remain under investigation.

Fire in Converted Garage Displaces Resident and Dog

On Friday, December 19, 2025, at approximately 9:27 PM, in the Gateway neighborhood of San Diego, emergency crews responded to a garage fire at 4206 Posey Pl. According to officials, the fire threatened to spread to a neighboring home, but firefighters were able to stop the flames before they caused additional damage. A battalion chief stated the garage appeared to have been converted into a living space.

During the firefight, crews faced added challenges due to a broken gas meter that was actively blowing, creating a hazardous situation as firefighters worked to contain the fire. One adult and one dog were displaced as a result of the incident.

SDPD and SDFD responded, with MAST also on scene to assist. The cause of the fire remains under investigation by SDFD.

Possible Road Rage Leads to SUV Rollover

Late Friday night, December 5, 2025, at approximately 11:43 p.m., a two-vehicle crash on eastbound State Route 94 near 28th Street left a white SUV overturned in the roadway in the Grant Hill area.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the SUV was hit by another vehicle, causing it to flip onto its roof. Despite the dramatic scene, occupants from both vehicles were able to get out on their own before emergency crews arrived.

Both drivers were transported to local hospitals for medical evaluation. Their conditions were not immediately available.

CHP stated that early witness calls suggested the possibility of road rage playing a role in the collision; however, investigators stressed that this information has not been confirmed. Authorities are continuing to determine the cause of the crash, and DUI is being reviewed as a potential factor.

The second vehicle involved reportedly pulled over across the freeway following the collision. Traffic along eastbound SR-94 was temporarily impacted as crews worked the scene and cleared the roadway.

CVPD Investigating After Two Stabbed Near Manhattan Bar

Early Saturday morning, police launched an investigation after two people showed up at a hospital with stab wounds following a disturbance outside a downtown bar.

Officers were sent to The Manhattan Bar on 400 Broadway Avenue at 1:37 a.m. on Saturday, December 6, 2025, after several 911 callers reported possible gunshots. When officers arrived, they spoke with multiple witnesses and confirmed that no gunfire occurred.

While officers were still at the scene, police were notified that two stabbing victims had arrived separately at a local hospital. Because of the seriousness of their injuries, both were later transferred to a trauma center.

According to CVPD, the victims refused to cooperate and did not provide details about what happened, leaving detectives with limited information. No arrests have been made.

The Crimes of Violence Unit has taken over the investigation and is asking anyone with information to contact San Diego County Crime Stoppers at (888) 580-8477 or submit a tip through the P3 Tips app.

SDPD Investigate Possible Robbery Series

Detectives with the San Diego Police Department believe two late-night armed robberies in Kearny Mesa and Grantville may be connected. Although witnesses at each location did not link the incidents, SDPD Robbery Detectives noticed similarities in the reports and are now looking at them as part of a possible robbery series.

The first incident happened Wednesday, December 3, 2025, just before 10 p.m., when a man walked into the Sunny Spa on Convoy Street and pointed a handgun at employees. He left with about $1,000 in cash. The suspect was described as a White man in his 40s with a medium build, wearing a white shirt and yellow pants. No one was injured.

Two nights later, on Friday, December 5, 2025, around 11:10 p.m., officers were called to a business on Vandever Avenue in Grantville for another armed robbery. The suspect again displayed a handgun and took an unknown amount of money. A possible Land Rover was mentioned as a suspect vehicle. An elderly customer inside at the time was not hurt.

Detectives say the similarities between the two robberies point to a potential series. The suspect has not been located, and no arrests have been made. SDPD is investigating

Armed Robbery

On November 3, 2025, at approximately 9:57 p.m., an armed robbery occurred at 4865 Convoy St. A man entered Sunny Spa, demanded money, and brandished a handgun before fleeing with roughly $1,000 in cash.

He is not in custody at this time. The suspect is described as a white male adult in his 40s, medium build, wearing a white shirt and yellow pants. SDPD is handling the investigation.

Hit & Run Leaves Woman Trapped in Overturned SUV

On November 30, 2025 at approximately 11:19 p.m., a hit-and-run crash on southbound I-805 near Imperial Ave left an SUV on its side with the driver trapped inside.

San Diego Fire-Rescue’s Search and Rescue team accessed the vehicle through the trunk area and were able to safely free the woman.

Her husband arrived shortly after and was visibly worried for her, expressing a lot of gratitude toward the rescuers once she was brought out safely. She was transported to a local hospital with unknown injuries.

The suspect vehicle left the scene. CHP is investigating.
